PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for reading and sorting of ballot paper, capable of improving convenience by eliminating the need for aligning both sides of ballot paper in advance. SOLUTION: In the reading and sorting device of ballot paper, an imaging unit 17 obtains the image information of ballot paper 4 by imaging the edges of both sides of the ballot paper 4 to be conveyed on a conveyance path 111, and an information processor identifies the orientations of both sides directions and top and bottom direction of the ballot paper 4 based on the image information from the imaging unit 17, and reads written contents written in the entry frame of the ballot paper 4, and aligns the orientations of the top and bottom direction and front and back direction of the ballot paper 4 by controlling the operations of a top and bottom inversion part 20 and a front and back inversion part 21, and conveys the ballot paper to stackers 31 to 38 for each written content.
