<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance gastrointestinal health of companion animals. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a companion animal composition, contains approximately 0.01-0.2 wt.% of short chain oligofructose which comprises 1-kestose, nystose, and 1F-beta-fructofuranosylnystose.
