<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer system and a printer for use in the printer system, maintaining reliability of data acquired from the printer while managing the individuals of recording material cartridges such as ink cartridges in the printer system acquiring data on the use amount of a recording material such as ink from the printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer computes the amount of ink used only for image recording as the number of shots, and transmits the number of shots together with a printer serial number and an ink cartridge ID to a server. The server packages the number of shots, the printer serial number and the ink cartridge ID together with a reliability guaranteed value and stores them as status information.
