PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage of a fluid separation element when a plurality of fluid separation elements are loaded in series within a pressure container and operated. SOLUTION: The fluid separation element has a structure wherein a telescope-preventing plate is disposed at the end part of a spiral wound body composed by spirally winding a separation membrane, a raw water passage material and a permeated water passage material. A plurality of fluid separation elements are loaded in series within the pressure container and used. The fluid separation element is characterized in that a groove is provided on the surface of the end part of the telescope-preventing plate as a passage for communication between the raw water passage within the fluid separation element and the gap between the fluid separation element and the pressure container and that when multiple fluid separation elements are loaded in series within a pressure container, the fluid separation elements are connected so that the telescope-preventing plates of adjacent fluid separation elements come into contact with each other and a thrust ring lacking any inside-and-outside communication passage on the side is loaded downstream of the fluid separation element on the most downstream side.
