Disclosed are a golf club shaft and a golf club using the same. In the golf club shaft, the isotropy of the prepregs configuring a torsional rigidity retention layer is high, so that sufficient torsional rigidity can be secured with the less plies of less prepregs. The golf club shaft which comprises the torsional rigidity retention layer made of thermosetting resin and provided with reinforced fibers obliquely crossing the longitudinal direction of the shaft is characterized in that the torsional rigidity retention layer contains a set of multiple prepregs which consists of at least two prepregs obtained by impregnating the reinforced fibers with the thermosetting resin, in that the multiple prepregs in the set of multiple prepregs contain reinforced fibers in different directions, and in that the set of multiple pregregs is wound continuously at least twice while the multiple prepregs are superposed.
