PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for smelting a low-carbon high-manganese steel, which can use a manganese ferro-alloy containing carbon as a manganese source in a state of having suppressed the oxidation loss of manganese, when smelting the low-carbon high-manganese steel containing 0.05 mass% or less carbon by concentration and 0.5 mass% or more manganese by concentration, with vacuum decarburizing treatment. SOLUTION: The method for smelting the low-carbon high-manganese steel is a method of smelting the low-carbon high-manganese steel containing 0.05 mass% or less carbon by concentration and 0.5 mass% or more manganese by concentration, by subjecting a molten steel 3 to vacuum decarburizing treatment while supplying an oxygen source to the molten steel in a vacuum chamber in a vacuum degassing facility 1, and includes subjecting the molten steel to the vacuum decarburizing treatment while blowing the manganese ferro-alloy containing carbon into the molten steel.
