Disclosed are: a solid electrolyte which is composed of a material with high biocompatibility and capable of conducting a large current, while performing a rectifying function; and an electrochemical element which uses the solid electrolyte. Specifically disclosed are: a solid electrolyte which is obtained by laminating a first layer that contains an acidic amino acid and a second layer that contains a basic amino acid; and an electrochemical element which is configured by arranging the solid electrolyte between a negative electrode and a positive electrode.
