PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus capable of reducing the amount of operation of an operating device and the frequency of operation of switches, and excellent in the operability. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 1 includes a display device 12 for generating an ultrasonic image by using reflection waves acquired by projecting ultrasonic waves to a subject and displaying the generated ultrasonic image, and a GUI (a graphic user interface) and a track ball 10 capable of setting a region of interest and other display processing by moving a cursor on the screen of the display device 12. The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 1 also includes: an operation sorting part 14 for sorting the operation of the track ball 10 into two operation categories, a regular operation category and a special operation category, with the motion of the track ball 10 as a condition for determination when the cursor is moved on the screen by using the track ball 10; and a display control part 8 for executing the display processing different from the transfer of the cursor in place of the transfer of the cursor or together with the transfer of the cursor if the operation of the track ball 10 is sorted as the special operation.
