PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain cutting pliers capable of easily separating between tips of a pair of legs of a cotter pin. SOLUTION: The cutting pliers include a pair of arms 21A and 21B, respectively having coupling parts 22a and 22b structured between one and the other ends, rotatably coupled around a rotation axis passing through the coupling parts 22a and 22b, and structured so that ends come closer to/farther away from each other as the other ends come closer to/farther away from each other. On one of ends of one of the arms 21A, a pin fitting recess 26 opened toward the other arm 21B and permitting a head 3 to be fitted into is formed in a predetermined length. A sharp protrusion 28 in a shape of a wall face is provided on one end of the other arm 21B, which has a peak 28a facing the deepest part of the pin fitting recess 26 and comprises a pin aligning surface 29 extending from the peak 28a in a direction separating from the pin fitting recess 26 and a first pin bending surface 30 extending from the peak 28a to gradually separate from the pin fitting recess 26 as coming farther away from the pin aligning surface 29.
