The present invention provides a method for controlling communication states of a mobile terminal and the mobile terminal, wherein the method includes: the mobile terminal receives and stores a planned time period and its corresponding communication state information input by a user through its specific setup interface; the mobile terminal detects whether the current time is in the planned time period, if yes, the mobile terminal detects whether the current communication state is consistent with the stored communication state corresponding to the planned time period, if they are not consistent, the current communication state is adjusted to the communication state corresponding to the planned time period. The present invention enables the user to set up time plans and corresponding communication states in the mobile terminal according to his own working or learning needs and so on, thus avoiding disturbance of incoming calls and short messages when it is unnecessary, and communicate normally in spare time.
