A control device 1 for the wireless control of an audio effects processor device 13 preferably comprises a wireless transmission device (4,7), a processor (3) and a user input device (2). The processor may output at least one control signal 12 in response to user input obtained, via wireless transmission such as internet radio, to the audio effects processor device, instructing the audio effects processor device to apply an audio effect to an audio signal. The audio signal may originate from a musical instrument such as an electric guitar 14 and the audio effects processor device may comprise an effects pedal, PC or audio mixing desk. Alternatively the audio effects processor device may be a TV set, mobile telephone, video games system or tablet computer. The user input device may include at least one of a foot pedal, button system, rotatable knob, motion sensor, touchpad, optical sensor, microphone or slider switch. The invention allow independent wireless placement of user controls, while keeping expensive audio effects hardware located in a secure place; it also can allow for simpler connections with less risk of tripping over multiple leads.
