The assembly comprises a base arrangement mountable on the vehicle and an elongate support arrangement 14 with a support part at one end. The support part is pivotably moveable between a rest alignment at least generally parallel to the remainder of the support arrangement 14 and an inclined alignment inclined downwardly from said one end. The support part carries an item mounting arrangement 12 to which an item, such as one or more ladders, is mountable. The item mounting arrangement 12 is slidably engageable with the support part 20 and moveable between a storage position with the item mounting arrangement 12 supported on the support arrangement 14, and a loading position in which the item mounting arrangement 12 extends beyond said one end. The support arrangement 14 is pivotally mounted to the base arrangement about an at least generally vertical axis Y at or towards the other end of the support arrangement 14, to be moveable between a transport alignment at least generally parallel to the length of the vehicle and alignments inclined relative to the transport alignment. |
