The method involves generating a label image associated with a household appliance to be evaluated, and processing the generated image for extracting data relative to the household appliance. A power consumption value of the household appliance is estimated from the extracted data and personal data associated with a consumer of a power distribution system. The estimated power consumption value of the household appliance is displayed on a screen of a user terminal e.g. mobile terminal. The data relative to the household appliance are chosen from a group comprising household appliance type, household appliance manufacturer name, model identifier of the household appliance, an average power consumption value of the household appliance and power efficiency category of the household appliance. The personal data associated with the subscriber of the power distribution system are subscription type or utilization frequency of the household appliance. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an evaluation application comprising instructions for performing a method for evaluating an appliance connected to a power distribution system (2) an evaluation server for evaluating an appliance connected to a power distribution system, from a user terminal.
