A connector arrangement comprises a connector part for making an electrical connection with a complementary connector part while underwater or in a harsh environment. The connector part has first and second axially extending, electrically conductive signal-carrying elements (e.g. contacts) which connect with respective signal-carrying elements (e.g. contact pins) of the complementary connector part when the connector parts are mated forming sealed watertight signal conduction paths between the connector parts. An electrically conductive crosstalk suppressing means 33 is electrically connected to earth and extends between the signal conduction paths and thereby shield the paths from each other to suppress signal crosstalk therebetween. The signal-carrying elements may be sealed in individual chambers filled with electrically non-conducting fluid with the crosstalk suppressing means 33 extending between the individual sealed chambers. The crosstalk suppressing means 33 may comprise a conductive insert member immersed in electrically non-conducting fluid and may extend at least partly circumferentially round each of the signal-carrying elements. The signal-carrying elements may terminate conductors of twisted pair Ethernet cabling. |
