A glide follower (8) is integrated to a backrest supporting turntable (4) at a point distinct from a pivot point (5) of the backrest supporting turntable on a slide (3'). An activating device (9) is integrated to a base supporting turntable (3) to drive the base supporting turntable along a rotational movement in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction to move a base and a backrest of the armchair from a seating position to a rest position and vice versa.
