<p>The method involves controlling input temperature of a particle filter (3) around a threshold temperature value. A temperature rise time is increased up to a threshold temperature according to an instantaneous mass of particles stored in the particle filter and the threshold temperature value. Acceptable maximum temperatures in an inlet of the particle filter are determined according to the rise time and the instantaneous masses of particles stored in the particle filter. An independent claim is also included for a temperature managing system comprising a determination unit.</p>
