The invention relates to special electrometallurgy and can be used for melting ferroalloys. The aim of the invention is to reduce energy consumption and improve operating performance. This aim is achieved in that in the method for melting fine-fraction ferroalloys in an electric arc furnace, material is loaded into the furnace and the material for melting is heated by an electric current flowing therethrough. Prior to commencement of the melting process and before a current source is connected up, a movable electrode is moved until it interacts with a stationary electrode. The material is then loaded into the furnace, and the current source is switched on, igniting the arc at the stationary electrode. The melting zone has a variable increasing volume as a result of the movement of one of the electrodes, namely the movable electrode, in relation to the other, namely the stationary electrode, with billets, which act as a current conductor, being melted therebetween. The current source is switched off before the movable electrode exits the furnace, thus terminating melting.
|
