PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyester excellent in heat resistance and rigidity, and having a suitable crystallization speed. SOLUTION: The aromatic polyester includes a 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid residue and a bishydroxyalkoxybiphenyl residue, or a 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid residue, an aliphatic diol residue and a bishydroxyalkoxybiphenyl residue, and has a high heat resistance and a crystallization speed suitable for spinning, film formation and molding.
