It is described a compound of the general formula (2), wherein X is bromine, a tosylate group, a mesylate group, an acyloxy group, a benzene sulphonyl group, a substituted aryloxy group or a nitro-substituted benzene sulphonyl group, whereby the compound is in the (4R, 6S) form, which is the starting material to prepare derivatives of 2-(6-substituted-1,3-dioxane-4- yl)acetic acid of the general formula (1), wherein X is a halogen, an acyloxy group, a tosylate group, a mesylate group, a benzene sulphonyl group, a substituted aryloxy group or a nitro-substituted benzene sulphonyl group; and R1, R2 and R3 each independently stand for an alkyl group with 1-3 carbon atoms. The scope also includes salts of the general formula (3), wherein R1 and R2 each independently stand for an alkyl group with 1-3 carbon atoms, X stands for a leaving group and Y is an alkaline (earth) metal or a substituted or non-substituted ammonium group.
