PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod member that minimizes waste of a material. SOLUTION: The rod member 1 is obtained by processing a workpiece of a metal rod material. The rod member 1 includes a growth part 2 with a diameter expanded at the one place of the workpiece and both end parts 3 to be connected with other members, and has a processed area processed by removing the material skin part of only the growth part 2 and both of the end parts 3. Accordingly, the rod member has the processed area where the material skin part is removed and only the growth part 2 and both of the end parts 3 are processed, and places other than those are not processed. Namely, the growth part 2 has a diameter larger than that of the workpiece, so that it is not necessary to prepare a workpiece corresponding to the diameter of the growth part 2.
