PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a urethane coating film on the surface, on which a film is hardly formed, of a doctor roll in a case that crosslinkable hot melt type urethane resin is applied to the surface of a base material using a reverse roll coater. SOLUTION: A coating roll 2 and the doctor roll 3 are arranged above a sheet base material 1 in opposed relationship so as to hold a gap in a state that the outer peripheral surfaces of both rolls become parallel to each other; the coating roll 2 is rotated at a peripheral speed A in the direction reverse to the feed direction of the sheet base material 1 while the doctor roll 3 is rotated at a peripheral speed B in the feed direction of the sheet base material 1 and the crosslinkable hot melt type urethane resin with a melt viscosity ofηis allowed to flow down from the area above the gap formed by the coating roll 2 and the doctor roll 3 both of which are heated to set temperature. In a case that the urethane coating film is formed, the melt viscosityηis 1,000-10,000, while the number of rotations of the doctor roll is 0.2-5 rpm and the ratio A/B of the peripheral speed A and the peripheral speed B is 10-120.
