PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining device surely meshing a locking gear with an internal tooth of a gear plate. SOLUTION: A plate 60 rotating simultaneously with a center shaft 70 is provided, and the plate is fitted, with a clearance gap, to a fitting hole formed in a cam 50, whereby the cam is enabled to slide in a specified direction relative to the plate. The center shaft is fitted, with a clearance gap, to a fitting hole formed in the plate, whereby the plate is enabled to slide in a specified direction to the center shaft. Thus, when an error is caused in meshing of the locking gear 40 and the internal tooth of the inner periphery of the gear plate, the cam and the plate slide to absorb the error.
