Disclosed is a refrigeration cycle apparatus wherein a compressor (6), an indoor heat exchanger (16), an expansion valve (12), and an outdoor heat exchanger (14) are connected to one another by refrigerant pipes. The refrigeration cycle apparatus is provided with a heat storage device having a heat storage element (36) which is disposed so as to surround the compressor (6) and accumulates heat generated in the compressor (6), and a heat storage heat exchanger (34) which exchanges the heat accumulated in the heat storage element (36) and the heat of refrigerant. Furthermore, the refrigeration cycle apparatus is provided with a pipe (28) through which a part of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor (6) is introduced to the outdoor heat exchanger (14) during a defrosting operation, and a pipe (38) through which the refrigerant discharged from the indoor heat exchanger (16) is introduced to the heat storage heat exchanger (34), so that the refrigerant discharged from the heat storage heat exchanger (34) is mixed with the refrigerant discharged from the outdoor heat exchanger (14).
