PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve drivability, to avoid breakages of exhaust system parts, and further, to eliminate a circuit for detecting a period when the ion current is being generated by defining fuel cut conditions with throttle openings and determining a misfire of an internal combustion engine based on an output signal from a crank angle detector, in a control device for the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This control device for an internal combustion engine includes: a misfire detector for detecting a misfire of the internal combustion engine based on an output signal from a crank angle detector; and a throttle opening learning resource for learning a throttle opening before a misfire occurs as a threshold value in the case wherein the misfire of the internal combustion engine is detected by the misfire detector.
