<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and improved device authentication system identifying each individual electronic device in a more reliable way, and a method of controlling power feeding. <P>SOLUTION: In the method, from a manufacturer server managed by the manufacturer of an electronic device that is the subject of an authentication process, a power management device obtains a public key that makes a pair with a secret key retained by the electronic device and the manufacturer server. The power management device then generates random numbers, generates encrypted text by encrypting the random numbers using the public key obtained by a public key obtaining part, and sends the text to the electronic device and the manufacturer server. Also, the electronic device decrypts the encrypted text sent in the encrypted text sending step, restores the random numbers, operates electronic components based on the random numbers, measures a current value flowing in the electronic components, and sends the current value to the manufacturer server.
