PURPOSE: A composition containing pseurotin D for preventing and treating cancer is provided to suppress cell growth due to apoptosis and DNA damage. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating cancer contains 0.02-50 weight% pseurotin D of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. A health food for preventing and treating cancer contains pseurotin D as an active ingredient. The health food is a tablet, capsule, pill, or liquid. A method for isolating pseurotin D comprises: a step of culturing brown algae of Aspergillus fumigatus in a SWS medium and filtering to isolate mycelium; a step of isolating the culture liquid with EtOAc and performing silica gel column chromatography; and a step of purifying a fraction containing pseurotin D by MPLC(medium pressure liquid chromatogrhy) and HPLC.
