PURPOSE: A shock absorber for a vehicle is provided to have a structure in which a lower washer of a piston valve can be in contact with a free piston. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorber for a vehicle comprises a cylinder(1), a piston valve(3), and a free piston(4). The cylinder accepts the piston valve. The piston valve is reciprocated inside the cylinder. One end of the piston valve is connected to the other end of a piston rod extended to the outside the cylinder. The free piston is vertically moved when the piston valve is reciprocated and divides the inside the cylinder into an oil chamber and a gas chamber.
