A spray gun has liquid and air passages 10 and 11, respectively, leading to a mixing chamber 18 within a nozzle 17 having an outlet 27. The air passage opens into an annular cavity 23, and the air strikes the rear face of a ring 19 and passes through an annular passage 20 between the ring and nozzle to the mixing chamber. It is stated that the impact of the air on the ring pioduces a swirling condition of the air. One or more grooves 24 may be provided on the ring. A rotary valve 13 operated by a trigger controls the liquid flow, and a valve at the base of the gun handle controls the air flow. The ring may be replaced by a cone-shaped member, Fig. 6, or by a frusto-conical sleeve, Fig. 7. The nozzle of Figs. 9 and 10 has an adjustable outlet comprising a bar 30, with openings 31 of different size and shape, displaceably arranged axially in a transverse bore of the nozzle, and any of the openings may constitute the nozzle outlet. For spraying motor &c. a notch 32, Fig. 12, produces a flat fan-shaped spray.</p> |
