PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to improve safety by preventing the damage of components of a safety element and to reduce the number of components through the use of separate supports without supporters. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery(100) comprises: a battery cell(10) in which an electrode assembly including a positive electrode/separator/negative electrode is accommodated and sealed in a case together with an electrolyte; a safety element(20) which is separated from one end of the battery cell in order to be electrically connected to the battery cell; two or more supports(30) interposed between the battery cell and the safety element in order to fix the position of the safety element; and a top cap(40) molded at one side of the battery cell in order to surround the safety element.
