<p>Disclosed is an ion generation device preventing assessments of no generation of ions despite the generation of ions. The ion generation device is provided with an ion generator (1) which generates ions, an ion detector (3) which detects generated ions, a fan (fan motor (22)) which blows the generated ions to the outside through a blast path, and a control unit (5) for drive-controlling the ion generator (1) and the fan. The control unit (5), when detecting no generation of ions at the start of operation, purifies accumulated ions by suspending the driving of the ion generator (1) for a short time while driving the fan, then performs ion detection using the ion detector (3), and assesses the presence or absence of the generation of ions. When it is assessed that there is no generation of ions, the control unit (5) subsequently performs a plurality of assessments for the generation of ions, and finally assesses that there is no generation of ions if none of the assessments indicate generation of ions.</p> |
