The present invention relates to peptides derived from the proinflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1&bgr; (IL1&bgr;) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), and their use in human or veterinary therapy, such as to generally treat diseases linked to the overproduction of IL1&bgr; or TNFα as well as acute or chronic inflammatory diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, septic shock, autoimmune diabetes, graft rejection in the host, etc.
