PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine that can be produced with reduced amount of steel plates and can improve the efficiency of cooling a stator core. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine includes: a rotor (1): and a stator (2) including an annular stator core which is formed by helically stacking a plurality of core pieces connected to each other by connecting parts, and in which the rotor is disposed in an inner circumferential side. The core pieces each have a main core which is provided on the inner circumferential side of the stator core and has a teeth part formed on the inner circumferential side, and a sub-core provided on the outer circumferential side of the main core. The core pieces are coupled to each other by the coupling parts formed on a boundary between the main cores and the sub-cores and the coupling parts are linearly arranged in the stacking direction of the stator core, and thus, grooves (815) extending in the stacking direction of the stator core are formed at the parts where the coupling parts are formed on the outer circumferential surface of the stator core.
