<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method and apparatus for creating an obstruction index that detects flattening of flow amount of an intake port of airflow, the apparatus being used for treating a symptom of sleep apnoea and other disorders related to a blocked airway of a patient. <P>SOLUTION: The use of the obstruction index discriminates a normal breathing from obstructed one. The obstruction index is estimated based on different weighting factors that are applied to some sections of airflow signal, thereby enhancing sensitivity to the various types of obstructed breathing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
