PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detection method of a heat exchange process, rapidly and easily detecting a leak of a heat carrier into a process fluid channel in the heat exchange process between the heat carrier and the process fluid. SOLUTION: The abnormality detection method of the heat exchange process detects, in the heat exchange process between the heat carrier and the process fluid, a gas component generated by decomposition of the heat carrier that is a molten salt containing nitrate salt and/or nitrite salt, or a gas component generated by contacting the heat carrier leaked into the process fluid channel to the process fluid in a gas phase portion in the process fluid channel.
