PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time-of-flight mass spectrometer capable of attaining high sensitivity and high throughput for ions having a wide range of mass-to-charge ratios.
SOLUTION: An ion transport region 10 of the time-of-flight mass spectrometer stores at least a part of ions produced by an ion source 50. The ion transport region 10 includes a collision cell (ion storage region) 54 for discharging the stored ions in a direction of an optical axis 140 (z-axis), a steady potential region 56 where potential at the time of passing the ions discharged from the collision cell (ion storage region) 54 is fixed, and a variable potential region 57 where potential changes in time so as to increase a potential difference with the steady potential region 56 in case that the ion passed through the steady potential region 56 is incident as the mass-to-charge ratio of the ion is increased. A time-to-flight mass analysis region 60 of the time-of-flight mass spectrometer guides the ions transported via the ion transport region 10 to a detector 160 by accelerating in a direction of an optical axis 141 (x-axis) at designated acceleration timing.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
|
