<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing pressure application device of printer capable of applying a heavy printing pressure by controlling it precisely. <P>SOLUTION: In the printing pressure application device of printer, a bearing housing 7 which retains a rotary shaft 1a on both ends of a blanket roll 1 freely rotatably through a bearing, is installed slidably in the vertical direction on a frame 8 mounted on a pedestal 4. Between the bearing housing 7 and the beam part 10 of the frame 8 positioned above the bearing housing 7, a toggle mechanism 11 and a printing pressure instrumentation sensor 12 are interposed in series. Further, a servo jack 13 is connected with the input link 21 of the toggle mechanism 11. Even in the case that a heavy printing pressure is required when the blanket roll 1 is brought into contact from above, with a printing plate 2 or a printing object 3 retained on a mobile table 6, the thrust of the servo jack 13 can be minimized by transmitting the thrust of the servo jack 13 to the bearing housing 7 through the toggle mechanism 11.
