Determining points of interest in an image based on colour information.

Method of processing an image having a plurality of elements comprising: comparing 306 respective colour information associated with first 300 and second 302 selected elements; determining 310 at least one parameter of at least one other element 308 if the colour information associated with each of the first and second selected elements are different and the at least one other element has the same colour information as the second element. The method further comprises: determining a direction score and a matching score of the first element based on the parameter (position) of the one other element; establishing a difference between said first and second elements according to their colour values having a difference above a threshold; grouping first elements according to the matching or direction score; colour spaces CIEDE2000, CYMK, RGB or in general approximating human eye perception; saliency analysis based on similarity of extracted features between different images.
