An oxygen-cutting oxyacetylene burner has the acetylene automatically throttled, to the amount necessary only for maintenance of the cutting operation, by a throttling member connected to a disphragm exposed to the pressure of the cutting oxygen when this is turned on. As shown a control device 5 containing two diaphragms 6, 7 has a spigot inserted into the acetylene branch 11 of the burner this spigot having a cross bore, aligned with the acetylene branch, and a piston way, open to the cross bore, in which can move a spring-controlled piston 9 fixed to the diaphragm 7 thereby to throttle the gas supply. The other diaphragm 6 is exposed through connecting pipe 3 to the cutting oxygen pressure, when this is turned on by tap 1, and moves a stem 8 to abut and move the diaphragm 7 carrying the throttling piston 9. The space between the two diaphragms is vented to atmosphere through openings 12; any leakage of oxygen or gas therefore vents to the atmosphere. |
