In a load-handling device of the kind in which a lifting carriage 4 is moved along a pair of downwardly - extending guides 6 secured to a wheeled carriage 1 movable along an overhead track 12, a fork comprising a pair of double arm members 8, 9 is pivoted to the lifting carriage at 10, and the arms 8 or 9 are adapted to bear selectively against a stop 11, so enabling the fork to extend on either side of the guides 6. The rails 12 'are mounted on further rails (not shown), perpendicular thereto. The carriage is raised and lowered by a winch 7 and the fork members 8, 9 are movable axially on the pivot 10, to vary their separation, by screw or hydraulically actuated means. |
