METHOD FOR IMPROVING SENSITIVITY OF ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSOR AND ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a method for improving the sensitivity of an electrochemical sensor capable of reducing the effect of the blunting of the sensitivity of the electrochemical sensor caused by accompanying a rise in the concentration of detection target gas to accurately and certainly detect the detection target gas.

SOLUTION: In the electrochemical sensor equipped with a sensor wherein a detection electrode 2 with which a detection target gas reacts and a counter electrode 3 are connected to both sides of an electrolyte layer 1, the method for improving the sensitivity of the electrochemical sensor is constituted so as to improve the blunting of the sensitivity of the sensor caused by accompanying a rise in the concentration of the detection target gas and includes a potential gradient forming process for forming a potential gradient wherein the potential on the side of the counter electrode 3 in the electrolyte layer 1 becomes higher than the potential on the side of the detection electrode 2.
