The method involves moving an object i.e. rotary part (2), relative to a distance sensor (3) in a similar manner in a test phase. Multiple level consequences are determined from measured consequences by distance values in a same manner. The level consequences are compared with stored consequences. An associated identifier is reported, and/or an error signal is generated between the currently determined consequences and the stored consequences if difference between the stored consequences and the current determined consequences exceeds a certain threshold.
