PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual wire lift provided with an automatic locking means for fall prevention and having high safety without any fall accident of a worker. SOLUTION: When a first main wire 9 is slackened or broken, a stopper 12 is inclined to hold a first middle tube 15 at a circumferential edge of a passing port 13 through which the first middle tube is passed. Then, when a releasing piece 24 is forwardly tilted by operating a first release wire 25, a front end of the releasing piece taps one end of the inclined stopper to return the stopper in the horizontal position and to release the fixing relationship of the stopper to the first middle tube. The stopper immediately returns to the inclined position, and the first middle tube is again held by the circumferential edge of the passing port of the stopper. By repeating a series of these operations, the first middle tube is lowered by a small distance. By repeating this operation, the first middle tube is lowered to a second stay 5. In order to lower the second stay, the release wire continuous to the releasing piece is pulled and released by a releasing bar 34 added to an outer part of a first stay 4.
