Disclosed is a battery having excellent sealing characteristics at a fixing section where a container and an electrode terminal are fixed to each other. The electrode terminal (40) has a hermetically sealing groove (44), which is formed along the entire outer circumference of the electrode terminal (40), and the hermetically sealing groove (44) has an edge line (45) at least on the groove end portion on the outer side of a container (30). On the periphery of a through hole (33) in a cover section (32), a burring section (34) that protrudes toward the outside of the container (30) is provided, and the electrode terminal (40) is inserted into the burring section (34), with an insulating member (50) therebetween, such that the hermetically sealing groove (44) and a cover section (32) portion having a fixed thickness in the axis direction of the electrode terminal (40) face each other. The electrode terminal (40) is fixed in the through hole (33) by forming a calking section (34a) by pressing, from the outer side of the container (30), and plastically deforming the burring section (34) region above the edge line (45) of the hermetically sealing groove (44), said edge line being positioned on the outer side of the container (30).
