<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate drive circuit that prevents switching loss, and prevents a surge voltage generated by causing a magnetizing current to flow. <P>SOLUTION: The gate drive circuit 42 converts a direct-current power supplied from a direct-current power supply 5 and drives a switching device SW used for a power conversion circuit 41 for supplying an alternating-current power to a variable magnetic flux motor 2.
