PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve water vapor barrier properties of an insulating film for electromagnetic coils used for motors and transformers. SOLUTION: The insulating film for electromagnetic coils includes a liquid crystal polyester comprising structural units expressed by formulae (1)-(3) and having a≥40 mol% content of structural units including a 2,6-naphthalenediyl group: (1)-O-Ar<SP>1</SP>-CO-, (2)-CO-Ar<SP>2</SP>-CO-, (3)-O-Ar<SP>3</SP>-O-, wherein Ar<SP>1</SP>represents a 2,6-naphthalenediyl group, 1,4-phenylene group or 4,4'-biphenylene group; Ar<SP>2</SP>and Ar<SP>3</SP>each independently represents a 2,6-naphthalenediyl group, 1,4-phenylene group, 1,3-phenylene group or 4,4'-biphenylene group.
