PURPOSE: An AD converting apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to precisely convert analog signals to digital signals while reducing noise which occurs in a comparator. CONSTITUTION: A differential amplifier(12) generates a differential input voltage according to an analog input signal. A differential DA converter(14) outputs a differential output voltage wherein the differential input voltage is subtracted from a differential comparison voltage to generate the differential output voltage. A comparator compares a positive output voltage with a negative output voltage. A setting unit(20) sets one of the common potential of the differential amplifier and the common potential of the differential DA converter according to the target value of the common potential of the comparator.
