PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, capable of adjusting the volume of an audio signal to be output from a speaker, even during power-off, when volume adjustment by software control is not performed. SOLUTION: When the information processing apparatus is in a power-off state, an EC/KBC 19 controls an analog switch 24 so as to select a route x2 which introduces the audio signal input via a microphone connection terminal 28 to a speaker amplifier 25 by way of a volume operation unit 29. The volume operation unit 29 includes a rotary encoder function of detecting a degree of displacement of an operation element thereof and a potentiometer function of detecting an absolute position of the operation element. A volume part 291 in the volume operation unit 29 performs volume adjustment processing using the potentiometer function with respect to the audio signal which is input via the microphone connection terminal 28 and output to the speaker amplifier 25.
