COMBINATIONS COMPRISING AN ANT I -INFLAMMATORY AGENT AND/OR AN ANTIBACTERIAL AGENT AND A GLYCOSYLAMINE AND THEIR USE IN MEDICINE

The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions and kits comprising an anti-inflammatory and/or an antibacterial agent, and a glycosylamine such as ß,ß-di-glucosylamine. Preferably the anti-inflammatory is a COX inhibitor such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen or a selective COX-2 inhibitor. Alternately, instead or in addition to the glycosylamine, the compositions or kits may comprise precursor(s) of the glycosylamine such as glucose and/ or ammonium salts. The compositions and kits are suitable for use in the treatment or prevention of inflammation, pain, fever, cancer or cardiovascular disorders, and for use in the treatment of wounds. The present invention also relates to uses of glycosylamines or precursors thereof to treat or prevent side effects associated with the administration of anti-inflammatories and/or antibacterial agents.
