<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately detect a predetermined object or pattern from an image. <P>SOLUTION: First, a plurality of apexes of the outline of the object or the pattern is detected from the image. Then, on each side connecting the plurality of detected apexes, the prescribed number of dividing points is generated so that each side of at least one pair of two opposite sides is unequally divided. Then, a plurality of sample points are determined based on straight lines mutually connecting the dividing points on the two opposite sides, and, based on pixel values of these sample points, it is determined whether the predetermined object or pattern is displayed in an area surrounded by the plurality of apexes in the image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
