PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate the waste toner amount collected by a collection means and stored in a collection container, in an image forming apparatus having a no-margin mode. SOLUTION: When a no-margin mode is executed and a recording material is carried by a nip, the toner amount collected by a brush roller 34 is estimated from the toner amount of a part larger than the recording member out of toner images formed on a secondary transfer belt 31 and from a transfer efficiency based on the thickness of the recording material.
